Right to Choose GP Referrals
The NHS Right to Choose lets patients in England select where they receive non-emergency treatment when referred by their GP. Patients can choose from various hospitals or clinics, including private providers like RTN Diagnostics, at no extra cost. This choice aims to improve patient satisfaction, reduce waiting times, and ensure that care is delivered in a convenient and preferred location.
We currently offer autism assessments for children & adults in England under the Right to Choose, with a wait time of over 18 weeks. If your GP seems unsure of the specifics of this pathway (which we have found can happen, since this option is still relatively new), please click here to download a copy of our GP letter.
How do I access Right to Choose?
Accessing Right to Choose (RTC) is simple, and once your referral has been accepted the assessment process will start within seven days.
1
Download and complete the autism self-report questionnaire for children aged 4-11, children aged 12-15 or children 16+.
2
Complete our GP letter template.
3
Book an appointment with your GP.
4
Take the completed self-report forms and completed GP letter to your GP appointment, and ask for a referral for an autism assessment.
5
If your GP agrees to refer you, ask them to refer you to RTN Diagnostics by sending a cover letter on headed paper, completed referral form and summary care report to enquiries@rtnmentalhealthsolutions.com, or filling in the online referral form.
6
We will review your referral to confirm you meet RTC criteria and, if you do, contact you within seven days to start the assessment process.
